Planning is underway for an evening to celebrate the works of Robert Burns and other prominent Scottish artists. There should be a formal announcement in the coming 7-10 days with details of how to get tickets, their price and an outline programme for the evening.

In brief; there will be hot food, some recitations and musical performances. It will be restricted to 65-70 tickets. This will be followed by a Scottish themed musical movie.

Please keep an eye on this website, noticeboards in clubhouse and the various social media formats we use.

Most of the year we spend our time on the water or outside at the Club. But we have great indoor facilities that really come into their own in the darker and colder months. This weekend we have a day of Movies on Saturday, that will see the place busy from 2:30pm until the wee hours of Sunday.

Tucked away at the back of the Hall is a great Club asset, the Snooker Room. As well as containing the snooker table it is where we set up catering, store instruments during gigs, put the piano when we need the space in the hall, also storing spare chairs for the Hall.

It is a great multi-purpose space, but we should not lose sight of the primary purpose of this space, for playing snooker. The Committee’s attention was drawn to it this week by a Member and we have taken advise from John Parrot Sport before ordered a new set of 2 1/16″ balls, also a new cover for the table. These should arrive today.

As the Club gets busier, spaces within the clubhouse and grounds become more valuable. Multi-function spaces like the Snooker Room need to be respected by all groups of Members using them, so we don’t negatively impact on the asset we have there.

Just a quick update on the event.

As you will have realised the tickets sold out very quickly. Any that have been returned so far have now been taken up, in order, by those on the Waiting List.

The seating plan for the evening has been worked up and will be on display when you come into the clubhouse on Hogmanay. There will also be name cards on the tables to avoid confusion. As we could not get everyone into the Bar that had requested to be seated in there, we thought it best to publish lists of who is in the Bar & who is in the Hall ahead of the evening. Below are the lists based on the principal Member’s name in each group. You will know how many tickets you have bought.

Christmas Movie Extravaganza!  Saturday December 21

A film suitable for kids and adults alike will be showing at 3pm in our cosy clubhouse. Members and guests can coorie in beside the Christmas Tree with goodie bags and popcorn free to all kids who come along.

If you would like to attend, please go to the events tab on Club Facebook page, click “GOING” and comment in the discussion tab exactly how many children you are bringing, so we have enough goodie bags to go round.
