City to Summit Race

This Saturday Chris Jones is participating in the inaugural City to Summit Iron-distance Triathlon.

This event starts with a 2.4 mile sea swim in the Firth of Forth at South Queensferry, it’s then on to bikes for the 112 miles to Glencoe. Next is a marathon which takes in a chunk of the West Highland Way and finishes at the foot of Ben Nevis, having just been to the summit.

This is allegedly the worlds toughest triathlon and although the swim is likely to be shortened, due to the real risk of hypothermia and fatalities, it is just as well he has been training for the last 9 months. His target is to complete the journey in under 18 hours, but just finishing will be achievement enough.

He is raising money in support of the RNLI and has set up a just giving page (link below), whose services he hopes to avoid at the weekend!

Hope that Chris will give us a report on his performance as soon as he recovers.
