Tay Descent 2014

Dear Club Member,

The 5th Tay Descent 2014 will take place on Saturday 25th October 2014.

We would be grateful if you could circulate the following request to your members.
The Descent is looking for volunteers to assist with the event, primarily as safety paddlers. What we are looking for is people who are competent in the environment of the River Tay at Stanley (i.e. can put their boat safely and accurately anywhere), and practiced in rescues. Those who, on Club paddles, regularly do the rescues are those we’re looking for. We don’t necessarily need qualifications, just ability.

We also need a smaller number of shore-based volunteers. We’ll provide both skills training (White Water Safety and Rescue, First Aid, 4 star leader training (kayak), and 4 star leader training (OC), and site specific training on the Tay. See the SCA website for information on the Descent.

Those interested (whether maybe or definite) should register interest with Michelle Scobie (michelle.scobie@canoescotland.org). Questions relating to training should go to the same person. Any other questions should go to Robert Craig (robert_craig0@talk21.com).

Regards
Andy
