Many people can’t afford to go to the South Coast every year so the RYA hope that the Big Weekend gives them a great excuse to come together at the start of the season and stock up on the things they need, find out about stuff that is happening in 2013 and generally enjoy attending some talks and workshops too! Tickets are only a fiver for adults so they are trying to get as many people along as possible!
For those of you that went to the 2012 Big Weekend, they are doing things a bit differently this year. They are not going to be running a formal conference this year but instead a boat show type of event where we will have a large trade hall and also a smaller club/class hall with lots of short talks and workshops taking place on the stage or on different stands throughout the weekend. They are trying to organise activities for everyone so that it will be a family event. They are also looking to make sure that we cater for all sailing and boating audiences. The only conference elements at the Big Weekend will be the Yachtmaster Instructor Conference which will be taking place all day on the Saturday and also the Cruise 13 Conference which will be all day on the Sunday.
