At the end of a busy month which included the Hogmanay Party, fundraisering events for local groups, private functions and a Boat Club Session. we have just finished another busy weekend.
Friday was a busy Private Function hosted by Paddy Rodden, An Evening of Burns, attended by approx 70 people. As well as there being a good turnover in the bar the surplus from the ticket money and the proceeds of the raffle were also donated to the Club.
On Saturday we unveiled the new portrait of Her Majesty the Queen that had been presented to the Club by a member. The Deputy Lieutenant Alistair MacMillan kindly agreed to attend and unveil this for us.
We also unveiled the flag flown on Whiteforeland during the Diamond Jubilee Pageant. We thought it appropriate for the Deputy Lieutenant to unveil this also as he was instrumental in the Lieutenancy asking us to participate in the event on behalf of the County.

On Sunday the Club played host to the Inverclyde Athletic Club County Road Race. We provided the facilities for them to administer the race from and also to cater to thier participants and supporters. The Vice-President, Alistair Black, spoke during the Prizegiving to welcomed the event to the Club and we have been asked to host it again next year. We are hoping this will be the start of a long association with IAC and this event.
Forthcoming events can be seen on the following website page https://www.rwsabc.co.uk/about/club_functions/ , or on the Club Noticeboards.
The next couple of events are the meeting on Tuesday night @ 20:00 to discuss Canoe Pool Sessions and the Beach Tidy @ 10:00 next Saturday. The latter is a bring your own shovel & wheelbarrow party, think Alex is organising the pies and Bovril.
See you at the Club.
