Last night saw a lot of activity at the Club in advance of the regatta today. There was a work party of members making up rolls and laying out the hall before the visiting boats started to arrive.
First were the two skiffs from Anstruther with thier crews arriving through the evening. The entire team is staying in the Holiday Inn for the weekend.
Later the team from The Netherlands arrived via the City to Ocean Race in Cork last weekend. They were tired from thier long drive so everyone helped get their gear down to the garden and the boat stowed on the beach. The team of five are camping in the back garden and are staying over until Sunday when they head for an afternoon ferry from Newcastle.
We are expecting teams from North Berwick, Queensferry, Firth of Clyde, Troon and Carrick (Ayrshire, not Castle). Racing starts at 10:30 with a couple of Long Races, followed by sprint races from about 12:30.
There are 23 races during the day with 73 crews entered from the eight clubs taking part. Regardless of the weather this should be a great spectacle and all members are encouraged to attend to support the event and the Club.
There is a quiz and disco arranged for the evening starting at 7:30pm. All members and guests are encouraged to attend.
On Sunday we will take any remaining crews for a wander over to Kilcreggan for a refreshing lunch.
