1948 – 2023
We are sorry to share the sad news of Dan’s passing on the 4th May 2023.
Dan, who was good friends with Robert Ross and Vicky Cookson, (ordinary members), joined the club in January and was really settling into the local community. He had been out rowing, joined the health walks, was an active member of the Lyle Hillbillies litter picking group and was relearning to ride a bike. Dan was also a talented photographer.
Originally American, Dan was previously living in Seoul in South Korea. Unfortunately he lost his beloved wife Sunghee in 2022. He was a lovely man with hidden depths, curious and interested about the world and with a dry sense of humour. He will be sadly missed. There will be a memorial for him at the boat club on Monday the 5th June at 7pm where we will raise a glass to him. All are welcome.
Dan was becoming an enthusiastic member of RWSABC and was embracing all aspects of club life and had plans to expand his involvement. It has been decided that the novice race in the upcoming rowing regatta on Saturday the 17th June, will be named the “Dan Kane Novice Race” in his memory.
