“Chippy McNish” was christened by the wife of the club’s Vice-President, Mrs Marion Taylor. She was assisted by the great nephew of Chippy McNish, Mr John McNish. The ceremony was carried out in front of a crowd of approx 100, including visitors from Cockenzie & Port Seton, Anstruther, Millport, Troon and South Queensferry.
Following the ceremony, “Chippy McNish” was launched and taken round the bay in front of the club by a variety of Royal West and visiting crews. We will post photos of the event at a later time but would welcome any taken by our visitors to add to those taken by club members.
All at Royal West would extend our heartfelt thanks to those who attended today and to those who sent messages of support for the event. It is the first St. Ayles Skiff launched on the Clyde and we should be announcing the launch of our second skiff before the end of April. We would again invite all in the SCRA community, their friends and followers to join us for that event.
