You may be aware from previous notices and website articles that this Saturday the Club is hosting a reunion of crews and supporters of the Long Rows that took place in Zebra & Whiteforland.
This summer also marks the 50th Anniversary of the first Long Row in Zebra and the original crew who took her from the Club round Mull and back to the Club in 1968 are at the centre of this reunion event.
As a result, the clubhouse and rowing boats will be busy for a good part of the day. Members are respectfully reminded that the following boats have been reserved for use of the participants in this event for the whole day.
• Zebra
• Whiteforeland
• No.10 Pair
• No.11 Pair
• No.15 Sixteen
• No.16 Sixteen
Please do not take any of these boats out on Saturday morning, in case, for whatever reason, you do not make it back in time.
The reunion crews will be arriving about 12:00. The Vice President and Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire will be meeting them and seeing them off for a trip to Kilcreggan at approx. 13:30.
They should return by about 18:00 and will then be sitting down to a meal in the clubhouse from 19:00.
Although the clubhouse is open as normal on Saturday the above events are by invitation only. We would trust that the general membership will respect the space given over to this historic event.
At about 21:00 Hugh Kerr will be presenting an abridged version of his memorable talk on the Long Rows. This will be open to the general membership, but as there will already be approx. 50-60 people in attendance we have had to limit it to 20 places at £2.50/head. There is a list in the bar that you can add your name to.
