In 2019 the Royal West went to the SkiffieWorlds in Stranraer. SkiffieWorlds come around every 3 years, so the event will be run this summer between 27 June and 2 July in Kortgene, The Netherlands.
Team Royal West has 14 rowers planning to attend the event. We will combine forces with Royal Gourock Yacht Club who started Coastal Rowing in 2021. Five 5 Royal Gourock rowers will join Team Royal West.
Training has begun and rowers have been out most weekends. It has been heartening to see rowing gaining more participants over the last season. The Club recently purchased an Ergo machine for dry land training and this has been set up in the Boat Shed.
The rowers are planning fundraising events to cover WorldSkiffies kit costs and transport. A Curry and Quiz Night is scheduled for Saturday, 19 February and a Prosecco Afternoon Tea is scheduled for Saturday, 12 March. Keep checking back to the Club Website and Facebook for updates.
