UKCC Level 2 Rowing Coach course success

Following attendance on a residential course in Wales last September, then practical assessment at Royal West yesterday two of the club rowing coaches, Ian Clark & Adam Graham, have been awarded UK Coaching Council Level 2 Certificates for Fixed Seat Rowing.

The course was run by Welsh Rowing on behalf of British Rowing, who will be issuing the certificates. The assessor, David Thomson, travelled up from SW Wales to carry out the assessments yesterday. He was astounded at the club’s facilities, boats, combination of water sports and history. He has offered any assistance we may need to further develop rowing and coaching at the club as well as in the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association.

The coaches would like to thank Richard Wills & Ewan Chisholm for thier assistance with the rescue boat yesterday, the willing crews that formed part of the assessment and Inverclyde Sports Council for thier financial support throughout the course.

Rowing training will commence formally on Wednesday 20th April @ 18:00. Anyone interested in participating is welcome to attend. It is our initial intention to train on Wednesday evenings and Sundays.
