Unauthorized Swimming at the Royal West

Some large groups of people have assembled to swim from the Beach at the Royal West on Friday, 5 March around 5:30pm and on Sunday, 7 March around 10:15am. The RWSABC Committee wishes to make it known that the swimmers are not Royal West Members nor has the Royal West sanctioned these swims.

Some Royal West Members have spoken to the swimmers, the swimmers were polite, but ignored the request not to swim in a large group from our Beach. This is a matter for the Police so you should not confront a large group.

These swims are in breach of current COVID restrictions limiting outside gatherings to 2 people maximum. The Police have been contacted and they will attend if informed of the gathering while it is in progress. The Royal West will be monitoring our CCTV camera looking onto the Beach as much as possible but constant review impossible. Two of the photos that accompany this announcement were taken using our CCTV equipment. You can see images from the RWSABC Beach Cam from the ‘Beach’ tab on the RWSABC website.

If you see a group, larger than current COVID restrictions allow on the Royal West Beach, the RWSABC Committee requests that you contact the Police and report the gathering.

If you see a large group assembled on the Beach please take a photo and email it to Joe Heffernan, RWSABC Secretary.
